On this very hot summer, one of the best desserts to eat is the Halo-Halo! No wonder a lot of halo-halo vendors are sprouting like mushrooms around. Some vendors serve their halo-halo in a bowl and some are in plastic cups. I favor the practice of serving it in bowls because vendors may save a few pennies which can lower their expenses resulting to higher profits, but at the same time it is more environment friendly. While serving it in the plastic cups is an additional garbage after the customers finished their halo-halo.
While looking at the number of plastic cups on my garbage can, I thought of bringing them home and recycle. Since we have a lot of Gmelina seedlings in our garden I thought of using them as container for the seedlings.
Check the steps below:
1. Collect the plastic cups and wash them with soap and water. Make sure that no food particles and residue are left in the cups as they may attract insects which might be harmful to your seedlings later on.
2. Punch or slice some holes on your cups so that no water will stay on your cup. Without the holes, the seedling may get "drown" and die.
3. Add soil and tree seedlings in your cup.
4. Collect your seedlings and put it on your favorite spot in your garden. Wait until they're ready for planting.
You may also use a San Miguel Beer case to hold the cups. It looks good and provides sturdy support.
